PCV Grand Tour to Canberra
24th April to 2nd May 2023

Come and join us on our Grand Tour to Canberra departing on Monday 24th April and arriving back on Tuesday 2nd May 2023.

Our Tour travels through Gippsland, the Alpine region of New South Wales and on to Canberra.  We will see a variety of natural beauty, enjoy great roads, excellent accommodation, fine dining, partner friendly stopovers and great company.  There is plenty of optionality built into this trip to ensure that it is enjoyed by those of us looking for a relaxed direct route from point to point, as well of those looking for a more adventurous driving experience.

TOUR PROGRAM

Day 1 – Monday 24th April

After a leisurely drive to Lakes Entrance we will meet for a Tour briefing before enjoying a wonderful four course shared meal at local seafood restaurant Sodafish.  Drinks at own cost.

Accommodation at Bellevue on the Lakes.

Day 2 – Tuesday 25th April (ANZAC Day)

There will be ample time this morning to have a leisurely breakfast and a stroll around Lakes Entrance.  We will then meet for a relaxing three hour afternoon cruise aboard Seabird, touring the Lakes, including a brief stop in Metung.  There will be grazing boxes for everyone to enjoy and bar purchases are available onboard.

Day 3 – Wednesday 26th April

There will be optional routes provided for today’s drive to Jindabyne, either direct or adventurous! The countryside once we head up the Monaro Highway is stunning, with lots of places to stop for lunch (and coffee) on the way.  We have a buffet dinner at Rydges tonight.  Drinks at own cost.

Day 4 – Thursday 27th April

Today is free day in Jindabyne, there is so much to do here, lots of great walking tracks for those looking for a relaxed stroll around the lake or the more adventurous climb to the top of Australia’s highest peak.  The chairlift from Thredbo offers fantastic views and takes you to the highest coffee in Australia (National Park fees may apply).  Alternatively, the Wild Brumby distillery has a wonderful sculpture garden and does a sensational tasting platter to go with a gin and/or schnapps tasting.  An adventurous driving route is available for those so inclined!

We have a wonderful three course dinner tonight at the Cuisine Bar and Restaurant, perched over the water at the Lake Crackenback Resort.  Drinks at own cost.  Bus transfers have been arranged to and from the venue.

Day 5 – Friday 28th April

There will be optional routes provided for today’s drive to Canberra, either direct or adventurous!  Regardless of which route you choose the countryside is stunning, with lots of places to stop for lunch (and coffee) on the way.

Day 6 – Saturday 29th April

Today is free day in Canberra, there is so much to do here, the Australian War Memorial, National Gallery, Parliament House or even the National Arboretum.  There is certainly something for everyone.

Tonight, we have a special event, a three-course dinner at the iconic National Press Club, home of so many memorable speeches that have shaped Australia over the last 60 years.  Over canapes there will be ample time to look over all of the memorabilia, before enjoying dinner and our guest speaker.  Drinks at own cost.  Bus transfers have been arranged to and from the venue.  Remember, dress to impress!

Day 7 – Sunday 30th April

Today we join Porsche Club Canberra for a joint event.  A combined run with both PCV and PCC members will head east towards the coast for a relaxed lunch and scenic drive.  Drinks at own cost.

Day 8 – Monday 1st May

Today we start head to Albury after a leisurely breakfast at the Hyatt.  For those that are interested there is a slight deviation off the driving route to look at some local silo art.  Our final three course dinner is at District Dining Bar and Restaurant, drinks at own cost.

Day 9 – Tuesday 2nd May

After a leisurely breakfast it is time to say goodbye to friend old and new and head home.

 

Tour Summary

8 nights bed and breakfast accommodation, 5 dinners, 1 luncheon and a grazing box.

Bus transport to 2 external dinners.

Note: All beverages to own account.

Tour Cost: $4,600 per car (up to 2 people)

The tour can accommodate a maximum of 80 people/40 cars so please book early to avoid disappointment.  Please note bookings will be on a first come basis via the club’s online booking system and can only be accepted when accompanied by a booking fee of $100.  As in previous years, when the booking list is full we will establish a waiting list.

Please note: Your bookings will actually be with a travel agent, About Travel and Cruise (Christine Whelan). PCV will pass on your bookings to Christine, who will be in contact with you to obtain full details for your participation in the Tour. To enable this to occur, following your online (PCV) booking, your name and contact details will be provided to Christine.  All subsequent booking related communications will be made via Christine.  Any itinerary related items can be addressed with Alison Belot (alison9114s@gmail.com).

Payment:  $100 non-refundable administration fee at time of booking.  A non-refundable deposit of $1,500 is due to About Travel and Cruise within 10 days of booking.  Balance due to About Travel and Cruise by 15 December 2022.
